Dear Families,
Wishing you ALL a safe and happy Victoria Day long weekend with your loved ones. I know in my past, many students would be buzzing earlier this week about their trailers and going camping with friends.
I realize this must be hard for some families as you may not get this opportunity to camp as you're used to, but I'm sure you'll find lots of other ways to make the most of this situation with your child(ren).
Perhaps you'll stay nestled in the cozy comforts of your home or maybe, you'll find ways to enjoy your backyard or go for a walk. Whatever you choose to do, be safe and enjoy the moment! We WILL get through this trying time!
Google Meets:
Thank you to ALL the students who participated in Monday's Google Meet session. Our turnouts have been fantastic and it shows how much you care about your learning and peers. It is always so wonderful seeing your bright and beautiful smiles :-) Special thanks to Mrs. Johnson, Ms. West and Mme Wylie for joining us. Stay tuned for YET another special staff member to join in on our next meet!!!
Today, I had my Ma (aka Mom) hop on the Meet too because I talk about my students all the time and she really wanted to see some of you!
I hope you enjoyed virtually meeting her as well. She adores children as well and is SO PROUD OF EVERYTHING YOU'RE DOING as she watches me give ongoing feedback to student work.
Victoria Day:
There will be NO assigned school work on Monday (18th) due to the holiday. I will host my google meet on Tues. (19th) morning at 9:00 a.m. and then again on Fri. (22nd) at 9:00 a.m. for those students who have something to share with their peers!
I look forward to connecting with your child virtually and hear about all the creative ways they spent their weekend with YOU! Hopefully, we'll get some sunny days!!
Music:
Just a friendly reminder here that Mr. Morin has been and will continue to host weekly Google Meet music classes every Wed. at 10:00 A.M. for the grade 3/4 students at our school.
I know some of you have been participating (which is superb) and I'm encouraging others too when it works for you. I know he'd be happy to see YOU!
Lou:
Thank you Mrs. Foubert for sharing these wonderful images of Lou in ice-cream making action! As you can see, it requires patience, measuring (math), and determination. The end product turned out well! Lou enjoyed making ice-cream with her older sister Ivy too who helped with the shaking up of the ice-bag! What a TEAM EFFORT :-)
Ms. Gill
This week, I participated in some online workouts with my gym family. I am grateful that my instructors are so dedicated to health and fitness and providing its members with a variety of virtual classes.
On Monday evening, I joined a boxing class! My coach taught us some fancy footwork and got our heart rates up and moving. It was a great opportunity to box again!
Mindfulness:
What do you do with automatic negative thoughts, anxious thoughts, or just a broken record of intrusive thoughts? We know we can't run from them. Observe your thought without trying to change it.
Take some time to rest, relax and BREATHE to help rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit. YOU ARE WORTH IT. Certainly, this is easier said than done especially as we face a pandemic, but with time, patience, and effort, YOU CAN DO IT! TRY MINDFULNESS TODAY!

Today's OPTIONAL Google Meet was lovely as well! Thank you to Noah, Liam, Lou, Orin, Connor, Emma, Molly, Thomas and Ms. West for coming on. I enjoyed you sharing some highlights from your week such as your veggie garden plants, art pieces, and how your ice-cream experiment turned out.

On Wednesday evening, I did my first ever circuit class. It was go, Go, GO from start to finish. I was sweating and gasping for air. You can't really tell from the photo below as I'm smiling, but it was quite the workout. I needed and appreciated it! Thankfully, we had a stretch class right afterwards so I was able to relax my muscles a little bit.
Perhaps you remember from a few weeks ago that I posted about Darcie making bread with her Mom at home.
Well, I was so inspired by her that I decided to make my very own home made sour dough! It was my first time ever and I'm happy with the result! It turned out well and tasted delicious!! Who needs store bought when you can make it all on your own :-) Give it a TRY!
